From December 22 to 24, the Network of Actors for the Safeguarding of the Mauritanian Coast (RASLiM) organized a three-day workshop aimed at strengthening the skills of its members to better protect Mauritania’s coastline.

This strategic training focused on international ocean governance frameworks, marine risk prevention and management, and nature-based solutions. Discussions covered the BBNJ Treaty, issues related to the Oil & Gas sector, and the POLMAR Plan (plan for responding to accidental marine pollution), as well as the practical application of nature-based solutions to coastal and marine ecosystems.
The workshop aimed to deepen understanding of legal, technical, and environmental issues, identify key members within the network for each thematic area, and develop concrete actions and projects to be implemented on the ground.
Faced with multiple pressures, including exploitation of fisheries resources, offshore oil and gas activities, pollution risks, coastal erosion, and the impacts of climate change, RASLiM relies on training and capacity-building as a key lever to ensure a resilient, sustainable, and valued coastline.

Convinced that training today means better protection tomorrow, the PRCM, which funded this workshop under the WACA RESIP2 project, works to equip civil society organizations in its intervention area with the resources they need to fully play their role and is pleased to have contributed to the organization of this workshop.
